music, in a band called Nude. Now I don’t know if it’s just me that would have felt a little uncomfortable entering “Isabelle Gernand Nude” into a search engine, but knowing my luck, Sam would have walked in just as I finished typing it! Luckily, I found Marc, and then yourself, via the wondrous world of social media, so I never had to. So, I’m sure you’re itching to tell us all about your latest project then? What does the future hold for Nude?

IG: Haha, never thought about it, actually, but Nude is really a name that came up already in ’99 and the whole concept behind it. This fake scene in Germany – I hated it so much. All the electro guys really behaving old –fashioned – like idiots. Girls are just something nice to look at on or backstage. Come on. Like in the middle ages. We wanted to do something differently and we already knew that “our” scene would probably open a shitstorm, but we really didn’t care at all. Friends stay friends, so we worked with old friends and new ones and tried things here and there. People like Carsten and others always stayed in touch and wanted us to come back with Sabotage, even offering good money, but this was complete for us and we really wanted to start something new. We started working with people in UK, Austria, Sweden, really all over the world, just exchanging files and work rather as a collective than a band. We needed time to do it right, so we were only back with a release in 2007, but we really liked it and we work on the NUDE family since then. Our main members remain Georgie Weeratunga (UK), Tweeky Ahlund (Sweden), Johannes Buchner (Austria), Marc and myself. Mark Chung from Freibank Publishing is still with us and with his crew we now managed to place two tracks from our last album “Basic Guerilla Moves” in a German movie that will be released 18th April, it’s called “Das Leben Ist Nichts Für Feiglinge” which means ‘life is not for cowards.’ The album has also a cover version of Heaven 17’s “Let Me Go”, which did really well in England and we met the band afterwards when they toured Germany, very friendly and nice people. So, yeah, Nude is here to hopefully make listeners happy. We played some festivals and did club tours again and you can listen to it or watch us going crazy via the links at the end.

MM: Which just leaves me to say many thanks for talking to us, I know a lot of M&E supporters have particularly been looking forward to this interview. I’m sure I speak on behalf of all of them in wishing you and Marc all the best with Nude. And, incidentally, it’s great to be back in touch again.

IG: same here, thanks for the invitation and for not forgetting about us and all the best for you and your family!
