T H E   M I S S I O N   S T A T E M E N T

From 1987 to 2003, I had the privilege and pleasure to become and be an integral part of a unique global underground network, one that I still regard as amongst the most important social phenomena of its day. Many years before modern digital technology made communication and the dissemination of music simplicity itself; this network built up across national, continental, cultural and ethnic boundaries. We worked together on the basis of what we had in common, seldom stopping to be concerned about the ways in which we differed. The music always came before the money; mutual help, promotion and co-operation came before competition. We did what we could to erase the word "exploitation" from the dictionary, and the greatest profits we sought were banked in the friendships we forged. The Magic Net continues to work in that spirit. If you are commercially orientated, begone from this place! This is an underground website for underground people, there's nothing for you here...

A WARM WELCOME TO THE MAGIC NET...

The Magic Net Newszine, published on a 'rolling basis' these days, and wider website (accessible via the navigation bar on the left) aim to provide both archive and current information, news, entertainment, links and contacts; for fans of our band, Magic Moments At Twilight Time; fans of any of the hundreds of artists who appeared on our label, Music & Elsewhere; or anybody either involved with or interested in underground music and subculture in general. It's available to all to enjoy at their leisure, quite free of charge, though should anybody feel inclined to make any kind of contribution to the project, you are very welcome to do so, ideally via PayPal, and will find my e-mail address under 'Contact'. We also do some excellent value releases every once in a while, should you prefer to get something solid for your money. Our undying gratitude comes as a free bonus with either, of course. So, as the spirit of the underground goes - how can we help eachother?

MUSIC & ELSEWHERE BANDS/ARTISTES & LABELS...

For any band/artiste that has had material released on M&E (be that several albums or a solitary track), or label that has had a sampler compilation released by us (if time has messed with any memories, do feel free to check our CATALOGUE), we are more than happy to help promote your work, past and present. I can post links and plugs on social media and the MUSIC & ELSEWHERE FACEBOOK PAGE, there's a 'Links' page for music related web presence (official websites, Bandcamp, Soundcloud, You Tube, Facebook pages etc) on the main website, and the editorial of the Newszine for anything especially interesting. I will naturally share any potentially useful information I come across on one or more of these media, but if there's any other way you think I might be able to help, all you have to do is ask.

OTHER BANDS & ARTISTES...

If you're in the leftfield / underground spectrum and think we might like what you do, don't be a stranger, our friends tend to be a pretty open-minded lot who are always on the lookout for new sounds.

ZINES, WEBSITES, FREELANCE WRITERS / REVIEWERS, BLOGGERS, RADIOSHOWS, PODCASTERS ETC...

We're always looking for people who can help promote MMATT / M&E releases and projects; be it with features, interviews, articles, reviews, broadcasts or podcasts, and undoubtedly in many other ways that I haven't thought of while writing this list. And by way of showing our appreciation, every time you do, we'll write a piece for publication in our Newszine about your project and help spread the word for you too. We're nice like that. If you're willing and able to help on any score, please get in touch and let us know, many thanks. Likewise, if there's anything we can do for you, you know where we are.

AND MUSIC RELATED BUSINESSES...

If you are providing goods or services that may of interest to ourselves or our bands; recording / rehearsal facilities, equipment sale or hire, useful publications and any number of other things I've probably overlooked, please feel free to provide us with details. NB: This is the underground, our more successful bands are only going to be with small independent labels, please take into account the likelihood of proportionately modest budgets, thank you.
