Hal Ford: If the crew of the WSS Boobyprise are real in an alternate dimension, I wish there was some way we could actually communicate with them.

o

* SCENARIO II: The Bridge *

o

Slay 'Number One' Skibidy: If we really do have radioshow actor counterparts in an alternate dimension, I wish there was some way we could actually communicate with them.

Dr. Amokian: Number One, what if we try music that has elements of both electronics and radio?

09. Christian Wittman - Alexander Mackenzie

Another appearance on the show from the ex Lightwave electronic music maestro, this time featuring a track from his 2025 album, "The Northwest Passage". Here the French musician pays tribute to the many rugged explorers who went seeking pathways through the frozen wastes of the Arctic Circle. Must be honest, not a subject I know much about, but the music is quality,

as always, though I would recommend listening to it in a jumper and gloves with a nice hot cup of cocoa...

10. BURN - Late

From the album "Chopped And Shattered", this seemed to be the perfect choice to follow that, something you can warm your hands on, soothe the frostbite, courtesy of the warm electronica with a trip hop vibe of this decidedly cool and dark Polish band. Not the first time on the show, and probably not the last, and it never hurts us to step a little beyond the show's usual remit. Personally, I really enjoy stuff like this, just as much as my more out there tastes. And as HAL-90 so succinctly put it; "Nice segue..."

Kawaquad 'K-Bot' Amokabot: Boopity (he didn't say so much this time)

Slay 'Number One' Skibidy: Wasabi? Yes, of course I have some, and if wasabi can’t snap him out of it, I don’t know what can.

o

o11. SND - Wasabi

Could YOU think of a better way of bringing someone out of a trance than to feed them wasabi? Us neither, so it's all thanks

to this extra-terrestrial side project of Valerios Calocerinos (Australian, as you can no doubt tell by his name), veteran of Ozgoth band Ikon from back in the 90's, the Left As In Sinister label in the golden days of cassette culture, and he did that cool

interpretive thing on double bass that we had on the show a while back. An Aussie that never ceases to surprise. Like Rolf Harris.

But in a nice way that doesn't traumatise his children's friends and get him imprisoned. Relax, this won't hurt for long...

Nick Rowley: Hey, he’s coming round.

Sylvia Masheen: Mick, you okay?

Mick Magic: I’m in Bup World with a broken blinker... I'm a gnome gnome.

12/13. Bup World - Broken Blinker / Gnome Gnome

Yes, more 'tracklets' from the delightfully kitsche "Bup Land Anomaly Audio" album. We understand Bup Land is a small secret part of Sioux Falls in South Dakota, but keep that to yourselves, okay? These are nostalgic musical vignettes, hankering for the days of the early computer game, whimsical and refreshingly simplistic. I think it's one of those things you'll either get or you won't. We kinda did, and with titles like "Beezlebup" and "Fungal Punk", is it really any surprise...

Mick Magic: Why is my mouth on fire?

* SCENARIO III: Nine Backward, WSS Boobyprise

o

Slay 'Number One' Skibidy: It’s good to have you back, Captain.

Captain Riz Sigma: It’s good to be back Number One, I still can’t believe that was all in my mind.

HAL-90: Ladies and gentleman, the vocal stylings of Laurie Styron, accompanied on the piano by Blaine Jones.

o

14. Laurie Styron - In My Mind

A 2026 project from Blaine Jones, who you may well remember from electronic experimental pioneers Communication Union,

from back there in the golden age of Music & Elsewhere. Blaine I've known for over 30 years, Laurie Styron I know nothing about, but I can tell you there's a serious 'Twin Peaks' vibe to the track I selected for the show. Second I first heard this, I could imagine the two of them performing it in Nine Backward; Blaine sat at the ivories, lounge suit, shirt open at the neck, bow tie undone

and hanging either side of the collar, glass of bourbon on the piano; Laurie sat on a high stool by the side, evening dress and understated pillbox hat with veil, glass of fake champagne in one hand, breathing into the old fashioned suspended microphone. Of course, there's absolutely nothing quite so stylish aboard the WSS Boobyprise, Consolation Class, it's all far more synthetic...

* SCENARIO IV: Captain's Quarters, WSS Boobyprise

Slay 'Number One' Skibidy: Captain, they found this guitar inside the probe in engineering, Scotty thought you might like it.

Captain Riz Sigma: Thanks, Slay, appreciated. I could do with a bit of time on my own. Dismissed.

Saturday 8th November 1986; Since yesterday was the 20th birthday of my old friend, Willy The Oak Tree, I compiled my material into an album today. A human (I believe) called Eddie Irwin (although his friends call him "other things", affectionately, they tell me) informed me that there was no market for it. I'd not cried that much since I saw my first Lassie film, "Lassie Gets Blitzed Eating Peyote."

EPILOGUE: Annoyingly, absolutely nothing remains of that first demo, "Willy The Oak Tree's 20th Birthday Party!" I recall it being a C-90 cassette, intermixing my old ballads and comedy songs with the experimental stuff. I remember thinking how clever and innovative it was at the time, all in the safe and certain knowledge that nobody had done THAT before! I mean, Andy Williams meets Ivor Biggun and Faust? It was genius, surely? Until Eddie Irwin uttered the words; "But who would buy it?" And it disappeared without trace...
