After five
long months in the stasis tubes, the crew of the WSS Boobyprise are finally
awakened! Still a little 'out of it' from their
experience,
Hal 90 makes them all comfortable in Nine Backward, where the EFSPACM
Festival 2025 is being live streamed from Earth.
So, put
your feet up, pour yourself a drink and enjoy the show with them. Just don't
expect them to make a lot of sense yet...
01.
Magic Bullet - Simulation Theory (3:55)
Yeah yeah yeah, you know who we are.
02.
Wojciech Czeronko - Alleluia Wild Rose (3:16)
Wojciech tells us he chose this track for
the special as it's very important to him. He'd been very sick with what he
describes as 'blood problems' and recently released from hospital, surprised
to be alive. A friend had leant him a camper by the sea, no people around,
just trees, birds, the sea and wild rose bushes. Just him and a few
synthesizers. This was his favourite, and I can see why. He hasn't got a
Bandcamp set up completely yet, but the video for the track is on You Tube,
enjoy the peace with him...

03.
Wojciech Czeronko - Williams Mix Lublin (2:07)
His second contribution is an
interpretation of the John Cage piece (come on, we've all done Cage covers,
some of us have even attacked them with hedge trimmers!), recorded 12 years
ago during the Cage Centenary celebrations. If memory serves correctly, the
original was Cage's first piece for tape recorder. The stuff you learn
listening to my show, eh?
04.
rADio eNd - Escape From Your Reality (Radio Edit - 7:17)
Ed End rather kindly did this radio edit of
his favourite 24 minute work for the show. It was apparently meant to be
included on the album "Neverland", but his collaborator didn't include it.
His loss, our gain, wouldn't mind a listen to the full piece as it happens.
Anyway, whilst the tale that goes with it isn't quite as moving and dramatic
as Wojciech's, it's still well worth a read; Ed found a belt with the title
written on it in a second hand shop, so he bought it. I can see Stephen King
sharpening his quill as I write this...

Terbeschikkingstelling ft. Paloma B. L. - Sally’s Nightmare (2:46)
Volker Störtebeker up next, with a little
help from Paloma B.L., taken from the EFSPACM project, "Plastic Horrors",
and you will indeed be sleeping with the lights on for a few days after
hearing this one. Actually, the whole album has some fairly scary stuff, so
I'll add the link for that one too. Sweet dreams...

06.
CZESZRE - fhatuczedzadza (6:20)
A collaboration of two of our members,
Adalbert van den Bosch and Toshiro Koreshina, aka Piotr Szreniawski, who is
also up next solo. Felt quite sorry for our Lt. Annette Ouncer when she
planned to read the title out for this one, having valiantly mastered
Terbeschikkingstelling not long before. Wicked stuff that suspended
animation...

07.
Pszren - Enjoying Most Of The Things (1:07)
Yes, it's Piotr, I'd already given that
away in the notes for the previous track, hadn't I? A wonderfully modest
contribution ("It was a short piece, improvised on my recorder. I am somehow
proud of it.") from the EFSPACM project, "Books For Self Help And Self
Sabotage" (I really don't think I'd need the latter)...

08.
RDKPL - 250627_03 (10:05)
Radical Radek, aka Syfil SemeNoise, the
great Czech noizemeister (yes, I do make words up, sue me), with a
delightful ten minute mega fest of ear battering (leave it, Dave, it's meant
to sound like that). His track names make brilliant Captain's Log Stardates
too. Just saying...

09.
Jon Shuemaker - School Bus (2:51)
And a new member in the fold, welcome
aboard, sir, and he's even bought his own bus. Nice change of pace musically
too. This track is drawn from his 2024 EP, "Vivid Imagination", and Jon
succinctly sums up his reason for picking this track for the show; "A lot of
people really liked this one." Well, there ya go, think you can safely add
us to the list...

10.
{AN} Eel - Canopy For The Ear (Feckless) (4:28)
Another of our group admins struts his
funky stuff here, the experimental vocalist also known as Neal D. Retke. Not
actually sure where this piece comes from, don't think he said, or it could
just be my age. I forget why I went into rooms sometimes. And if anybody has
seen my slippers, I'd really appreciate a heads up...

11. Wilfried Hanrath - All The Things She Said (3:36)
Track with a tune, yay! Sssh, don't tell
anyone, but we do play them sometimes. And it arrived complete with a few
thoughts from the man himself; "I learned classical guitar, and taught
myself bass, drums, synthesizers at an early age. Quit at 20, and took up
making music 30 years later, playing mostly improvisations in bands and
ensembles. Due to health issues, homerecording became more and more
important. My music combines elements of improvisation and composition in
various genres, enjoying to cross and mix them." Now stop blaming him for
that Wham! Christmas number one and move on...

12. The Last Krep Project - A Kj Trga Andro (Prosta Pot u Spejs) (3:10)
Bit of a mystery to me is this one, arrived
with a graphic but no thoughts. And me and Matej Volčin Lučnik can't even
connect on Farcebook coz The Zuckerberg (He Moves In Mysterious Ways His
Wonders To Perform, Blessed Be The Zuckerberg) has decreed a maximum amount
of friends one is allowed to have. Farcebook: Connecting The World (*terms &
conditions apply, theirs)...

ENSEMBLE
FOR SOUND POETRY AND CONTEMPORARY MUSIC
All material in this month's show came from
members of this creative arts group, of which I am a proud member, in
celebration of our first festival, running from 4th - 10th August in various
online locations, click the Facebook link top left to pay it a visit.
There's also an EFSPACM Festival Blog, which I'll add a link for at the end.
The group is one that really stretches its members creatively, coming up
with some quite innovative ideas for projects most months, the general
result being a new album on their Bandcamp, and yes, there will be an album
of all the tracks on the show, again watch for the link at the end.
