Previously on Dr. Magic's Audio Lab: At the end of the EFSPACMSTOCK
broadcast, we hear the REAL Dr. Magic aboard the Ford Escortron, commenting
that it wasn't a bad radioshow, but he was far from pleased on realising
that I'd been using HIS name for it. Now, back in the land of the living
again, the crew are undergoing their psyche evaluations on the nice comfy
couch in Dr. Patel's office, but before we get to that bit, there's that
little matter of a couple of old friends and the aforementioned spacetime
continuum vehicle changing the past...
 Scene
I: The Ford Escortron lands in Wimbledon, England, 21st April 1958, aboard
are the REAL Dr. Magic, and very special guest, Miss Shona Moments...
Photos: left - Shona on stage with me at
The Crypt in 1989, right - the Doc with the original foursome and the Ford
Escortron, just in case you thought I made this stuff up...
MISS MOMENTS: So, doctor, how exactly
can we listen to your protégé’s wireless broadcast from here in the past?
DR. MAGIC: Oh ye of little faith, Miss Moments, a simple tweak on the
Ford Escortron’s receiver, et voila...
01. The Dr. Magic's Audio Lab Opening Jingle
(0:17) -
but it gets cut short and what is this strange interference???
DR.
MAGIC: However, a couple of alterations, I think...
MISS MOMENTS: Oh, doctor, look at that
delightful butterfly.
DR. MAGIC: Exactly, my dear, and if I
cause it to flutter its wings with just a gentle nudge, thus...
And what you hear at this point is absolutely
certainly the sound of the butterfly's wings sending a temporal wave on
through spacetime to 2025 and changing the present and definitely NOT me
twanging a towel ring on the bathroom windowsill and then playing the
recording backwards, okay?

The Psychic TV - Supermarket To The Gods
Music & Elsewhere fans may well remember
Connecticut based lo-fi psyche rockers, Sanity Assassins, amongst the
favourites on the label. Well, this is Adam Schwartz's latest project and is
certainly in keeping with that ethos, but there was one track that stuck out
to us, and it's actually the least typical of the band and unlike anything
else on the album. Sorry, guys! I love this, Adam says it's like listening
to the story of his life, but so long as he's behaving himself in the
aisles, sounds like fun. You can hear the rest of the album, "Fading Fast",
on their Bandcamp, along with the more recent "Jabberwocky"...

03. Sensitiv -
Communication Has Been Lost
Coming to us courtesy of Carsten S at
Klappstuhl Records, presenting the album title track from this Dutch
electronic band with a cool sense of rhythm. According to the artwork, these
recordings were first published on Soundcloud between 13-15 years ago, but
they still sound and feel very contemporary. Carsten does a great job making
sure some of this old underground gold doesn't get forgotten (as well as
newer material), did the same for our MMATT back in 2015, so do have a good
gander around his various projects. There's still a Soundcloud up for
Sensitiv at the moment too, definitely worth a listen...

Versioning - Open Up
Versioning is Danielle Milam from Columbus,
Ohio, and this is from the album, "Cloud Plateau", the first of three tracks
in this show that come to us via Ingrown Records (ta kissy kissy). Ingrown
is a 15 year old label run by a guy called Ryan, based in North Carolina
(watch out for Lucas Buck!), and who is a friend of Igor Amokian, the genius
engineer on the WSS Boobyprise who designed and built the Kawaquad Amokabot
robot. Small universe. The label specialises in experimental, drone /
ambient, psychedelic synth and IDM / weird electronica, so is going to be
right at home on our show...

Terbeschikkingstelling - E.T. Communicate
Two shows on the trot for Volker Störtebeker,
I'm going to be accused of favouritism, but then he's promised me the cheque
is in the post and he seems trustworthy. Seriously though, the last show was
the EFSPACM Festival and he was kind enough to contribute, and he also just
happened to have a track I liked on the excellent "Sounds In Space" musique
concrète compilation put out by Shaun Robert's Institute For Alien Research,
so here he is again. Sue me. I'll give him a month off in October, promise.
Two if the cheque doesn't arrive soon...
