Lt. Anne Ouncer as The Ghost

"What was that story my mother used to tell me? Yes, La Tartaruga Volante, the flying turtle that looked after children at night when they were scared. Hold on... what was that breath of noise? What are you doing here? What? No... why?

05. La Tartaruga Volante - Breath Of Noize (6:11)

From the creative team behind Schroedinger's Cat, Sebastian Iain Hawk (remember the old Hawk-Zine?) and crew's latest project, full of disturbed trippiness. This comes from the double album, "To Be With You Is My Dream", which has a cover so totally colour-vibrant that even somebody colourblind (like me) can see it! There is a wealth of spacey proggy type stuff (technical term) to discover here, expect more in future episodes, da-da-DARR!

Dr. Patel as The "Eleven" Serial Killer

"What? Oh, it is you, does the cap...? What are you doing? It is me, Doctor Patel, this is just a Halloween costume, I am the serial killer from the Indian film 'Eleven', why do you behave like a Dark Star? No... you must..."

06. Dark Star (featuring Yaxi Highrizer) - Eleven (4:34)

Yeah, I realise this is about the third track I've featured from the "Artefacts" album, but it is just SO good. I doubt I've finished yet, to be honest, not a duff track on there. Okay, bit of bias there, Wolfgang Reffert's Dark Star were amongst my personal favourites back in the Music & Elsewhere days, releasing four excellent albums with us. The tracks on here represent an unreleased set from the mid 90's that I'd say has been well worth the three decade wait for. Some real gems from the golden age of cassette culture on Bandcamp, music for elektroid space cadets everywhere...

Unable Spaceman Skit Zoyd as The Chainsaw Killer

"Skit look scary as masked chainsaw killer, yas! Him not scared of walking back to quarters alone in dark. What that noise? Sound like a Howl in the Typewriter? No, silly, not one on board. Skit got chainsaw, him measure twice, cut once. Wait, who that? Don’t hurt Skit, him just want to be loved, no!"

07. Howl in the Typewriter - Measure Twice, Cut Once (5:44)

Oh yes, my dear old friend pStan (silent 'p') Batcow has got wood, and he's cutting it when the wind is blowing. This is a great little album, kind of has pStan's usual post punk vibe, but there's some strong elements of light-hearted experimentalism at play here too, the perfect soundtrack for our Chainsaw Killer to meet his demise in the darkened corridors of a disabled spaceship! pStan did a really good re-imagining of our "In My World I Am A Writer Of Some Repute" too, called it "Mmatterialisation Chamber", very worth a listen, I'll add the link at the end...

First Officer Slay 'Number One' Skibidy as The Werewolf

"Who’s that in the shadows? You are wasting your time, Number One doesn’t scare easily. Even when something in the shadows is pointing some strange weapon at me. Great, I get to meet my maker dressed as a werewolf. Where’s a full moon when you need one?"

08. Billy Yfantis - Full Moon (3:48)

A first track on the show from Billy's latest album, "New Moon", a wonderful selection of easy on the ear electronica for spaceheads, kind of shades of Jean-Michel Jarre in places, but a tad less poppy. I know they say "beware of Greeks bearing gifts", but whenever Billy has a new album out, I'm always more than happy to receive a copy! Expect more soon. And if you'd like to explore the wider world of sound in general, Billy's Skylight Webzine may just take you to some seriously interesting places. Oh, be still my pounding ego... ;-)

Lavinia Mari as The High Priestess Of The Kathodos

"I can just send myself a message back in time, et voila. Because, as my Manservant Olik Nesnah often says, words of the past echo."

09. Olik Nesnah & Lavinia Mari - Words Of The Past Echo (7:36)

I don't know, should his name come before hers? Somehow it doesn't seem right, him being manservant to Her Wonderfulness and all! Seriously though (who's joking?), any excuse for another fine track from their collaboration (I hope he did as he was told), "Chasing Shadows Of Another World". A delightfully slow and melodramatic piece with a creepy air, perfect for All Hallows Eve. Pretty damned good for anytime, now I come to think of it...

"Let me see... oh, I know, I’ll put myself a note in a fortune cookie and send it back three months in time. Um... oh, I know what to put;

‘Your dreams will come true in November’.

There we are, that should strike me as oddly specific. "

And Thus It Came To Pass That We Journey Back To Nine Backward The Night Before...

"One more little trick or treat for you before we go, our very own Skit Zoyd and his Magic Bullet have asked if they can perform a special Halloween track they’ve been practising in their spare time, and I figured he’d spit in my tea if I said no, so here they are, please welcome Skit Zoyd & The Magic Bullet, Dark Life..."

10. Skit Zoyd & The Magic Bullet - Dark Life (3:06)

With apologies to Phil Daniels and Blur, our special creation for the Halloween party! Magic Moments At Twilight Time fans from the old days may well recognise the source of the samples we used on this one, coming from "The Torch" on "Creavolution", including the lovely guitar solo by Professor Damien Page at the end there. We've sent this track to {AN} Eel for the benefit compilation he's currently putting together for Jon Shuemaker, who you'll know from the "Efspacmstock" edition of the show. Jon has recently suffered an ischemic attack (mini stroke), and American medical bills being what they are, I'm sure he can use all the support he can get. I don't suppose a Magic Bullet track is going to add much to the haul, but as he provided such a great track for the EFSPACM special, it seemed the least we could do. Wishing you all the best, Jon, hope to have you healthy and back on the show again soon...
