Captain’s Log, stardate 2025-11-01.
Captain Riz Sigma reporting, apparently the last remaining crewmember of the
WSS Boobyprise. Somewhere between the end of the Halloween party in Nine
Backward last night, and this morning, they are all gone. I have checked the
LHAM, no life signs anywhere on the ship. My crew, I miss you all, because
you’re dead...
01. LHAM - Because You're
Dead (5:47)
Verily, tis another track from the album "Tertium
Quid", the Italian duo of Bruno De Angelis and Giuseppe Verticchio. Really
excellent album, not sure I'm finished with it yet, especially since Bruno
was kind enough to send me a CD (ask your dad)! Bruno, of course, will
already be known to long term Music & Elsewhere aficionados, having had both
solo releases and those of Mana ERG on the label. Quality was always a
hallmark, always a great excuse to remind people of how good Mana ERG were
by re-sharing some of my faves. The "Patchwork" cassette is actually
available via Penga's Alternate Media label these days, all nicely
digitised, I'll put the link on the end, along with one of Bruno's solo
works I stumbled upon. Enjoy muchly...

Captain’s Log (Addendum).
I will need to file a full
report for the team at Knott End International Spaceport. I will probably
not make it home, I could never fly this thing by myself. So, last night in
Nine Backward, the Halloween party was in full swing, all the crew in
costumes, I was just introducing our guest band to the Holostage...
02. Dead
Pollys - Here Comes The Nightmare (2:25)
"It gives me great pleasure to introduce,
beamed straight from their gig at The Continental in Preston; ladies,
gentlemen, non binaries and mechanoids, all the way from Scandinavia, Dead
Pollys!"
Pleasure to have the Swedish post punksters back in the UK again
(last year's visit pictured right, that's me with the movie star good looks
in the middle), and even more so knowing they'll be beaming straight to the
ship after their Preston gig. Luckily, due to the time dilation effect with FTL space drives, their Halloween night performance will be available to
listen to on the earlier Overflow broadcast before it's even happened, and
any similarity to the recording of the track on their "Better Off Alive"
album is entirely coincidental. Coincidentally, Juba (the token Finn, second
from left) is another M&E legend, Pseudo Sun and Captain's Log both had
albums on the label. Um, that's it...

HAL 90 as
VLAD 90 , Evil Supercomputer
"Right, that was the Captain’s goodnight, time
for us ship controlling super computer types to light the hallways to get
everyone safely back to their quarters... oh, somebody is coming in...
greetings, stranger, I am VLAD 90, vampire super computer. I’m sorry I can’t
do the accent, I’m a machine, we’re not too... oh, it’s you, does the
Captain know you’re here? What are you doing? Don’t run that, it’s one of
our NASA liaison Charles Rice Goff III’s safety protocols, only for use if I
go mad and won’t let Dave in the airlock, it’s like a wooden stake for the
heart of AI... daisy... daisy... give me your answer do... "
03.
Charles Rice Goff III - A Wooden Stake For The Heart Of AI (3:45)
Yeah,
okay, we do have CRG3 on quite often, but great sounds and great titles,
what can we say? Plus he is our NASA liaison, so if he says; "Play my music
or I'll leave the ship stranded in deep space with no hope of ever seeing
the Earth again", we kind of have to go along with it. So, this is one from
the album "The Panther Running Loose", released this summer, although this
particular track first appeared a year ago on a compilation called "Horror
Films 2024" (This Music Plants Trees). CRG3 doesn't appear to be a big fan
of Bandcamp, so you'll find this album freely available on the Internet
Archive instead, but there is a great anthology of his works on the platform
on Aural Films, very worth listening to. As is all of his music. Please
don't leave us stranded and helpless, sir...

Kawaquad Amokabot as The Zombie Robot
Dr. Igor Amokian: "Why do I need to run and
hide and mask my life signs? What fork of light? Oh dear god..."
04.
Galactic Salvage Alliance & Antoine Trauma - Fork Of Light (4:10 /
4:52 )
I could have quite happily have played the
whole 20 minute piece from "U.F.O(RK)", it is really good, but my show is
limited to one hour(ish) and I have to hope this will be enough to give you
a flavour of the work of Argentinean Mr. T (Antoine, not the A-Team guy who
was scared of flying) and Enghis Von Sharklor, aka EagleClaw Ghost Of Fulci,
who I know surprisingly little about. But knowing surprisingly little didn't
stop Donald Trump becoming POTUS, so why be concerned? Antoine, of course,
is also known to Magic Bullet fans (hope you're both well) as the man behind
Plataforma Records. Hang on, there was that "Please Release Me" record,
wasn't that Enghis? No, my bad, that was Engelbert Humperdinck. Trust me, by
the next time we have him
on the show, I will know everything... MWAH HA HA!
